Strawberries and Cream

 

 

Sometimes, the best desserts are the simplest things you can come up with, like this bowl of  marinated strawberries with whipped cream.  It took so little effort, yet the result was stunning and delicious.

I started by hulling and washing a pint of strawberries from the supermarket.  I put that in a bowl and sprinkled it with about 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and added a tablespoon or two of Grand Marnier which I think goes perfectly with fresh strawberries.  I let that sit in the refrigerator while my dinner was cooking. 

Between cooking dinner and serving it, I whipped half a cup of cream to the soft peaks stage, sweetened with a tablespoon or two of powdered sugar.  Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator as well.

By the time dinner is done, all you have to do is spoon a few strawberries in a bowl and top it with the sweetened whipped cream.

  1. psot-dated, Dette…I still have to post from something I’ve cooked here. At the rate we’re eating at Mama’s, that will probably be next year!
